Overview Lady Pauline Trevelyan, wife of Sir Walter Calverley Trevelyan, was the center of a coterie of Pre-Raphaelites (John Ruskin, William Bell Scott, Algernon Swinburne, John Everett Millais, etc.) who often visited Wallington Hall, the Trevelyan estate in Northumberland, England. She took an intelligent interest in art, literature, science, technology, etc., and was a good amateur artist herself.
